Just moved into a new house. One of the toilets would run periodically. Not wanting to waste water and save money on our water bill, I checked it out. I saw that the toilet was a Kohler Class 5. I did a little research online and found out that the red seal on the bottom of the canister goes bad after so long. I looked at the seal in my toilet, low and behold it was worn out. None of the local home improvement stores had this seal. I found it in on Amazon for pretty cheap. It was a fairly easy install. There's instructions on the back of the package and J. York put some in the comments section of his review (thanks for the help by the way). Just make sure the seal is secured around the grove on the bottom of the canister and no more leak!!!

This is a perfect fit for the seal on my Kohler class 5 toilet. I have the Kohler K-3589-0 Cimarron Comfort Height Elongated 1.6 gpf Toilet with Class Five Technology and Left-Hand Trip Lever, Less Seat that had started refilling intermittently after about a year of usage. I bought this and was able to install it in about 90 seconds. The install is so fast that I didn't even bother to turn off the water.

If you go out onto youtube, you can find a video showing how to disassemble and remove the valve to access the seal. This is done with no tools and no special skills.

I'm stocking up on these as I have several class 5 toilets and now expect the seals to wear out after about a year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seal for Kohler, August 8, 2012

Original part from Kohler, so not much to say on the part. For installation it is very easy, no tool is needed. Remove the chain on top of the main cylinder mechanism, take the old gasket out by stress and pull it out on the upward direction, make sure to clean around the area the old gasket seat on, just use water, for the new seal do the same way go from top down, the seal will stress out a little but it will be fine, make sure the seal seat inside the groove. Order two, keep one for next time, my old gasket last for 3 years.
